The Mechanical and Transport Division (MTD) provides vehicle, plant and equipment on operational lease basis to both public and private sectors. This has built capacity of our local contractors and made it possible for special groups such as youth, women and persons living with disability to participate in government tenders in the construction sector and hence access to government business. This will make it possible for the reality of the Bottom-up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) as a Kenyan can access Vehicle, Plant and equipment on lease basis and execute projects that would have otherwise required capital investment in terms of equipment. The MTD operation lease ensures the government of Kenya has a pool of equipment that it can deploy rapidly in cases of emergency. The lease rates are based on equipment maintenance and renewal without a Return on Investment (ROI) component with guarantee for sustainability through renewal and capacity building of the local contractors.
The vehicle, plant and equipment lease service is available in our twenty four (24) regional offices, forty seven county offices and other 25 sub-county mechanical offices spread through out the country.
